Rock that Doesn’t Roll podcast

I totally, stupidly forgot to put this in last week’s newsletter. Leah Payne, co-host of the Weird Religion podcast, is publishing a book about the history of the Contemporary Christian Music industry. Along with Andrew Gill, she’s also releasing the Rock That Doesn’t Roll podcast about Christian music in the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s.

It’s distributed by PRX, which also does This American Life, The Moth, Snap Judgement, etc etc so you know it’s good.

Literally feels like a podcast made specifically for me! So if you enjoy Modern Relics, you’ll probably like Rock That Doesn’t Roll too.

Greedy Peasant’s final St Bartholomew Halloween costume

Pre-Halloween I wrote about how TikToker Greedy Peasant was making a fashion St Bartholomew costume for Halloween but all the videos kept getting flagged on account of St Bartholomew is the one who was martyred by having all his skin flayed off and he’s usually depicted wearing his own skin as a robe. TikTok reckons that’s not suitable for children.

You’ll be relieved to know the final costume reveal has not been flagged or taken down! You are free to enjoy!

While on the topic, I love this video of Greedy Peasant doing a “nostalgia pilgrimage” through this book of Catholic saints he had as a child. Honestly it explains so much. In addition to many gross deaths, it features a floating cross stigmata laser beam combo pew pew.
